About the Role

SR3 Engineering is seeking an experienced, growth-minded individual for a new full-time Senior Electrical Substation Engineer position. This position will serve a variety of energy markets, but primarily working in the power delivery market (substation and transmission). As a small business, adaptability and possessing multiple skill sets will set candidates apart.

Pay range: $94k to $132k (based on skills and experience)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design refurbishments and upgrades to existing instrumentation facilities

  • Conduct electrical coordination studies and perform electrical design calculations

  • Create specifications for HV and LV electrical equipment (such as power transformers, switchgear, protection relays, MCCs, motors, and auxiliary systems)

  • Develop and document drawings, electrical basis of design, SOW, and reports

  • Ensure technical accuracy and conformance to project design criteria

  • Utilize and follow appropriate procedures, design guidelines, and design tools

  • Manage and support multiple concurrent projects

  • Serve as primary liaison with clients, project management, and diverse engineering teams

  • Support and oversee junior engineers

  • Other duties, as identified

  • Available for domestic travel (up to 25%) to meet with SR3 team and clients

Requirements and Skills

  • 7+ years electrical substation design experience in energy, power generation, power delivery, and power transmission utilities and/or related industries

  • Proficient in developing utility protection and control designs

  • Strong understanding of a variety of existing and new schemes

  • Highly proficient in control and wiring diagram retrofit designs

  • Performing transformer, motor, feeder protection calculations

  • Physical design experience is preferred, but not required

  • Substantial experience in developing design related documentation

  • Proficient with industry codes and standards (NFPA/NEC, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, API, ISA)

  • Perform QC on deliverables and completed projects

  • Strong communication, mentorship, and leadership skills

  • A desire for personal and professional growth
